A primary care provider (PCP) is a healthcare professional—such as a doctor, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner—who provides a person with health care in a non-emergency situation.
Your PCP is the healthcare professional you see every time you visit the health center.
Your PCP will identify and treat common medical conditions, provide you with health prevention information, and make referrals to medical specialists when necessary.
